🔥 Mugwort Moxibustion (Ssuk-tteum)

What is ‘ssuk’? What is ‘tteum’?
What is ‘ssuk-tteum’?????

  • Mugwort: The English name for ssuk, the main ingredient used in tteum.
  • Moxibustion: The standard word for the entire tteum treatment used in traditional Eastern medicine.

Mugwort moxibustion, once strictly an ahjumma thing, is trending hard right now. Tteum refers to medical tools or treatments used in traditional Eastern medicine. While various materials can be used, practitioners usually take young, tender dried mugwort leaves and stems, roll them into rice-grain-sized pieces, place them directly on pain points or related pressure points, and burn them. The heat stimulation helps treat various ailments.

If you want to try mugwort moxibustion, check out Green King Mugwort Moxibustion (그린 왕쑥뜸방) or Ssukddeum Myeongga Jamsil branch (쑥뜸명가 잠실점) —just keep in mind that you’ll need to call ahead to make a reservation.

🏖️ Enzyme Spa Seoul (Hyo-so Jjimjil)

De-bloat for just 30k–40k KRW! You get buried in rice bran powder just like a sand bath, and sweating it out brings insane heat to your body—boosting circulation and flushing out toxins. Being buried alive feels a bit like a trial run for your own funeral, but sitting back while burning cardio-level calories without moving sounds tempting enough to try at least once 🥴

For enzyme baths, you can easily book these on Naver:
Dodam Enzyme Bath (도담효소찜질): 2F, Hapjeong Bldg, 39 Worldcup-ro 3-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul
Ttasum Enzyme Bath (따숨효소찜질): Rm 201, 2F, 11 Ogeum-ro 46-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul

Along with the wellness trend among Korean women in their 20s and 30s, solo private saunas are blowing up. Honestly, public saunas mean being completely naked in front of everyone, and feeling people’s eyes on you can be uncomfortable. That’s low-key why I don’t go as often. But nowadays, young women in Korea are down to pay extra to bypass that awkwardness. Chilling in a sauna and having high-quality me-time is actual heaven 😇
